This year’s FIU Environment Forum will be a two-day roundtable discussion with the same group of participants, chosen from diverse fields, to discuss the critical environmental issues facing our country. Between two and four discussants will lead off each topic, to be followed by a free flowing discussion. Invitations will be for the whole conference, and participants will be asked to volunteer as a discussant on one of the topics; assignments will also be made.

The roundtable discussions will be held at FIU’s Washington, D.C. facility, at 601 New Jersey Ave NW suite 103, Washington, DC 20001.  The lunches and keynote dinner will be managed by Foreign Policy magazine’s event team at nearby locations TBD.  A block of 30 rooms will be reserved at the Royal Sonesta around the corner for participants flying in from out of town. FIU participants will have their TARs (flight and accommodations) covered by FIU. Non-FIU participants will be offered a $1500 honorarium to cover flights and accommodations.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
