Thursday, July 18, 2024, 6:00 PM, in-person. Make the Miami Beach Visual Arts Gallery a stop during the July Miami Beach Culture Crawl to experience Absurdeity, an exhibition by FIU MFA student Jacob Stiltner. Jacob’s work delves into themes of fragility, vulnerability, strength, fortitude, and growth. Using graphite, he tests the limits of human endurance and replicates tedious labor practices. Through his abstractions, Jacob addresses complex topics and their representation in contemporary society, sparking meaningful conversations. Don’t miss this thought-provoking showcase of artistic exploration and resilience. Miami Beach Visual Arts Gallery, 1602A Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL. Free and open to the public.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
