We are proud to host the second annual Africa-Americas Forum on China. This is a unique gathering where experts from both regions engage in open, transparent, nuanced, and constructive discussions about Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean's relations with China. Last year, in partnership with FLACSO Argentina, the University of Witwatersrand South Africa, the Social Science Research Council, the U.S. Institute of Peace, and the Atlantic Council Global China Hub, we hosted a successful two-day forum in Miami, Florida. Experts from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean shared best practices for fostering robust and healthy relationships with China. This year, the Africa-Americas Forum on China will be virtual!

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
