The Writing and Rhetoric Speaker Series presents a talk by Huiling Ding, Professor, North Carolina State University.

Today’s hiring processes are largely automated. Over 80 percent of large- and mid-sized companies use AI systems to screen resumes and analyze video interviews. This talk will use the theoretical frameworks of AI life cycle, AI ethics, and responsible AI to open the black boxes of these AI hiring tools. It presents findings from digital case studies of real AI systems from top vendors to reveal the inner workings of such black boxed systems.

The talk will shed light on how resume writing and job interviews are radically transformed by AI evaluators, why understanding how AI works matters in job searches, and how jobseekers can prepare for algorithmic evaluators in job searches.
