Drawing from a recent oral history interview conducted by the Cuban Heritage Collection, this discussion will explore Mr. Ferrer's journey as one of Cuba's most prominent voices for human rights.

José Daniel Ferrer García is a prominent Cuban human rights advocate and political dissident who has become a symbol of resistance against the Cuban regime. Born in Palma Soriano, Cuba, Ferrer has dedicated decades to fighting for democracy and human rights in his country. Read more

Sebastián Arcos is Interim Director of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University. Born and raised in Cuba, he was a political prisoner and a member of the first independent Cuban human rights organization (Cuban Committee for Human Rights) before leaving the island in 1992. He joined FIU in 1995, where he completed a BA in International Relations and an MA in Public Administration.

Sebastián Arcos es Director Interino del Instituto de Estudios Cubanos de Florida International University. Nacido y criado en Cuba, fue prisionero político y miembro de la primera organización independiente de derechos humanos de Cuba (Comité Cubano Pro Derechos Humanos) antes de salir de la isla en 1992. Se unió a FIU en 1995, donde completó una licenciatura en Relaciones Internacionales y una maestría en Administración Pública.
