AHSA (Art History Student Association) invites you to join them Friday, Sept. 13th at 6pm in the Ryder Business Building Room 120.

"Art in Context: A Workshop on Art Historiography and Criticism", an exploration of art criticism, analysis, and historiography through various models of art interpretation.

The workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of art history as an academic discipline, focusing on the critical examination of artworks. Building on the previous event, where the AHSA discussed Giorgio Vasari's "Lives of the Artists", this workshop provides a natural continuation. Participants will explore essential concepts for analyzing art, including the elements of art, principles of design, and the importance of historical context. The workshop offers a concise overview of art history as a discipline within the humanities.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
