What does it mean to be a Public Scholar and do your work with an outward face and an intention to be in community? As academics how do we answer the challenge to work outside of institutional walls and make our work relevant in the public sphere. This talk focuses on the social justice imperative to address Black Cemetery erasure in Florida and nationally from the perspective of an applied cultural anthropologist and scholar.

Dr. Jackson draws from her current work on the African American Burial Ground and Remembering Project and her previous work on the Dozier School for Boys project to share insights on academic research and public scholarship and education.
