Beco Lichtman - Inclusion: A Vital Jewish Value

This is a past event.

Monday, May 10, 2021 at 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Virtual Event

The ongoing racial reckoning in America and the global response to the Black
Lives Matter movement have highlighted the importance of racial equity, while
prompting questions and misconceptions about how we can repair the world—the
Jewish concept of tikkun olam.

Speaker Beco Lichtman, a Black, gay Jew, an American who’s spent years abroad, and an expert facilitator of compassionate conversations about diversity, will reflect on Jewish history and teachings related to the value of inclusion and share real-life examples of actions that affect people’s sense of belonging. He’ll also offer practical tips for how each of us can contribute to greater inclusion based on our individual power, privilege, and preferences. The presentation will include interactive discussion of a quotation from a Jewish text, plus Q&A.
