In 2024, Brazil and the United States celebrated 200 years of diplomatic relations, marked by strong trade and cultural ties, as well as strategic cooperation. In recent years, however, the relationship has gone through ebbs and flows, reaching its lowest point over the last few months.

In this presentation, Dr. Guillherme Casaroes will offer an overview of Brazil-US relations, discuss the global and domestic drivers of contemporary bilateral ties, and develop some scenarios for the coming years.

Join the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center and LACC's Graduate Student organization MALOKA for this insightful presentation.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
