This is part one of a three-part workshop series that introduces faculty to the effective and flexible ways you can use Canvas to support teaching, learning, and student success. Participants will explore practical strategies for communicating with students, organizing course content, designing assessments, and providing meaningful feedback using Canvas tools. This workshop series will highlight approaches that promote clarity, engagement, accessibility, and transparency, while giving faculty time to reflect on and refine their own courses. Through guided demonstrations, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions, faculty will leave with updated Canvas course components and ideas they can adapt and use right away.

Canvas Workshop I will focus on the following topics:

How to Use Communication as an Engagement Tool
How to Use My Landing Page to Engage My Students
How to Use the Course Outline in Support of the Syllabus

While faculty are strongly encouraged to register for all three Canvas workshops offered during the semester, they may register for each workshop separately.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
