Many landmark cases have also exposed laws that were not created equal. We believe matters surrounding equity and inclusion are integral to a law student’s academic endeavors. As future advocates and defenders of the law, it is incredibly important to provide channels for students to have a holistic understanding of our profession.

We aim for the Case Club to be a program where students can dive deeper into different fields of law, where the fight for inclusion and equity is still significant today. We plan for the meetings to be a place where students can express how their affinities have affected their lives, their education, or their purpose in pursuing a law degree. Lastly, we hope that this program and grant will inspire our students to step into the driver’s seat in the continuous fight for inclusion and equity.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
