Safwan Badr, M.D., MBA, is a leading expert in sleep-disordered breathing. His research has focused on advancing the understanding of sleep apnea pathophysiology and applying those insights to develop innovative treatments. Badr chaired the workgroup that developed the American Academy of Sleep Medicine's clinical practice guideline for the treatment of central sleep apnea in adults. He is professor and chair of medicine at Wayne State University and serves on the board of directors of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
