 sleep apnea pathophysiology and applying those insights to develop innovat
 ive treatments. Badr chaired the workgroup that developed the American Aca
 demy of Sleep Medicine's clinical practice guideline for the treatment of 
 central sleep apnea in adults. He is professor and chair of medicine at Wa
 yne State University and serves on the board of directors of the American
