Argentina’s new president will be selected in electionstaking place on 22 October (with a run-off on 19 Novembera possibility). Whoever wins will have enormous challengesin managing the economy. Inflation is at 124%, the peso isplummeting against the dollar, and the economy is on theedge of its sixth recession in a decade. What could the newpresident do? In this presentation Martin Redrado, theSecretary of Strategic Affairs for the City of Buenos Aires,will set out his assessment of the challenges and opportunities of economic policy oin Argentina.
