Lula's third term as president is likely to be very different from his first two in 2003-2010. As the attack on the Congress, Supreme Court, and presidential palace on January 8, 2023 reminded us, one difference lies in the relationship between government and society, and in particular the existence of militant right-wing movements that engage in protests. This panel will explore the main challenges of the incoming Lula administration and the various strategies and policy options that the administration could choose.
