Since the end of 2017 and the announced "great power competition" under the Trump Administration, the confrontation between the United States and China has increased in any imaginable socioeconomic field. Nevertheless, and from a "new triangular relations" perspective, Chinese Outbound Foreign Direct Investments (OFDI) to Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have continued until 2022 with a group of characteristics, as discussed in the new Monitor of Chinese OFDI in LAC 2023. The presentation will focus on details of this confrontation and its effects in LAC, and particularly on the characteristics of Chinese OFDI in LAC until 2022.
