FIU's Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) will be hosting the CIBER IB Speaker Series for faculty and students to learn more about international business at the MMC Campus.

On February 16, 2023 from 11am to 12pm, Dr. Maija Renko will be talking about “Current trends in research in (International) Entrepreneurship and what is takes to get published (in JBV and ET&P).” 
Maija Renko is Professor and Coleman Chair of Entrepreneurship at DePaul University, Driehaus College of Business, in Chicago, USA. She received her D. Sc. degree from Turku School of Economics (Finland), and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Florida International University (USA). Between 2007 and 2019 she worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was promoted to full professor in 2019.   

Maija’s research and teaching interests are focused on the early stages of the entrepreneurial process, social entrepreneurship, and technology entrepreneurship. Her research has been published in leading journals, and she currently serves on the editorial board of Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice. Through her work Maija aims to contribute to a better understanding of how entrepreneurs build successful businesses that not only generate financial rewards for those involved, but also contribute to positive social change.
