Mihaela Plugarasu, Assistant Teaching Professor
School of Journalism + Communication
Center for the Advancement of Teaching Faculty Fellow

will help you understand what ignites students' interest in

learning and how to create a safe and connected classroom environment.

  • Students will be excited to come to class.
  • Students will engage more with you and their peers.
  • The classroom environment will naturally lead to learning.
  • You will feel empowered to create the classroom environment you've always wanted.

How can faculty inspire change in teaching and learning at FIU? Can we, as a collective group, make a difference in how we teach? How can we empower ourselves to create the classroom environment we want? Join us for this workshop to find out the answers.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
