Our colleague Prof. Golam Kibria kindly agreed to give a Zoom colloquium talk this Thursday, September 29, at 3:45pm. His talk is suitable for the general audience: "A Brief History of Statistics and its applications​". According to the abstract below, the talk will be presented with 95% confidence.

Title A Brief History of Statistics and its applications

Abstract This talk will cover a brief history of statistics from the 17th century to present. It will cover three eras of statistics: non-inferential statistics (Era 1), inferential statistics (Era 2) and present and future of statistics (Era 3). Notable statisticians and their contributions will be highlighted. Applications of statistics in different fields will be outlined.  Finally, what I know, what I have learned, and what I believe will be presented with 95% confidence.
