Each year, the CHCI Hispanic Heritage Month Events bring together distinguished leaders from across the public,  private, and nonprofit sectors, civil rights, the arts, and emerging leaders from throughout the nation. At a time when coming together matters deeply, the CHCI Leadership Conference and 49th Annual Awards Gala offer a meaningful opportunity to engage the issues shaping our nation, honor achievement, and reflect on the enduring role Latinos have played in shaping America’s past, present, and future.

That enduring legacy is reflected in the 2026 CHCI Hispanic Heritage Month theme, Presence. Persistence. Power. — which reflect a simple truth: Latino leaders and communities shape this nation every day and in every space. Our presence is not new, nor is it temporary. It is enduring, increasingly visible, and deeply connected to the progress of this country.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, join us for the 2026 CHCI Leadership Conference and 49th Annual Awards Gala as we honor the leaders and cultures that have shaped this country, the communities that sustain us, and the promise of what lies ahead. September 15 – 17

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
