Piero R. Gardinali is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and
Director of the Freshwater Resources Division at Florida International University,
specializing in Analytical Environmental Chemistry with expertise in Environmental
Mass Spectrometry, Monitoring, and the study of contaminants’ fate and transport. His
research group focuses on environmental assessments of complex mixtures using
Non-target Analysis, and he has secured over $32 million in funding, published more
than 125 peer-reviewed articles, and holds an H-Index of 46 with 5582 citations.
Dr. Gardinali has also contributed to academic publishing as a founding Co-Editor in
Chief of Environmental Nanotechnology Monitoring and Management, Associate Editor
of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, and Editorial Board member of the Bulletin
of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology.


Learning objectives : The seminar will provide a broad overview of the analytical
chemistry capabilities in the FIU IoE with respect to environmental analysis of
bot organic and inorganic analytes. The audience will learn about specific mass
spectrometry techniques for target and non-target analysis and their application
to complex environmental mixtures.
