A study of the presence of the Asturian and Galician bagpipe in the popular melodies that contributed to the Cuban musical identity. Looking at the period between 1868 and 2008, this research follows the bagpipe as a cultural symbol across different historical periods and its transition from popularity, to censorship, to reconciliation.
