This lecture examines the role played by Cuban religions of African antecedents during the religious revival process experienced by Cuban society from 1985 to the present. It also documents how these religions have become increasingly visible in the work of contemporary intellectuals and artists such as Excilia Saldaña, Inés María Martiatu, Eugenio Hernández Espinosa, Belkys Ayón, Santiago Rodríguez Olazábal, Manuel Mendive, Sergio Giral, and Gloria Rolando, among others.

GUEST SPEAKER: Arisbel Lopez Andraca, Doctoral Candidate, University of Texas at Austin. Specializes in AfroCaribbean Studies and Visual Studies. Mr. López holds degrees from Universidad de La Habana and Universidad Iberoamericana.
