FIU in Washington, D.C.

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is celebrating its 65th anniversary since its founding by President Eisenhower. DARPA has held to a singular and enduring mission: to make pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security.

Originally known as the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), the agency was created in response to the Soviet launching of Sputnik 1 in 1957. By collaborating with academia, industry, and government partners, DARPA formulates and executes research and development projects to expand the frontiers of technology and science, often beyond immediate U.S. military requirements.

Don't forget to celebrate with DARPA!

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
