Abstract

 

The Everglades, a distinct wetland in South Florida, features a southwest flow into Florida Bay, with inundation and salinity as crucial ecological factors. The study analyzed land cover changes over 85 years using remote sensing data. Findings revealed tree island area
loss linked to prolonged hydroperiods, while historical imagery indicated inland mangrove
migration due to sea-level rise, shaped by topography and freshwater discharge. This
highlights the importance of large datasets in addressing key Earth science issues.
