Title: "An Integrated Approach to Address Global Change: Insights from Water Resources, Land Deformation, and Coastal Resilience" by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed, Associate Professor
Dept. of Physical and Environmental Sciences, College of Science, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi

Abstract

How do local actions shape global trends, and in what ways do global changes manifest as local challenges, particularly in the context of water resources, land deformation, and coastal resilience? We will address this question using an integrated approach that combines field observations, geophysical datasets, remote sensing, GIS, numerical modeling, and machine learning. Our analysis will span a range of spatial scales—from continental and sub-continental to national, regional, and local—focusing on Africa’s watersheds and aquifers, the transboundary fossil aquifers of the Sahara and Arabia, the coastal aquifers of Texas and Egypt, and Egypt’s basement aquifers. Emphasis will be placed on the critical importance of an integrated approach, an interconnected perspective, and multidisciplinary collaboration in addressing these global changes and designing effective adaptation strategies.
