Title: Integrating Sustainability Themes in K-12 Schools to Empower the Next Wave of Environmental Stewards

by Ms. Alexandra Ender Program Manager Dream in Green

Abstract: Scientists around the world have and continue to publish studies on the changing climate and the impact of humans. Often times the scientific language is difficult for the general public to understand and decipher resulting in the message of their studies not being conveyed. Often times there needs to be a middleman to translate the scientific jargon into a language everyone can understand and deliver it to an audience with a special emphasis on K-12 students. These students are becoming increasingly aware of the state of the planet they will inherit and therefore have transformed into the climate activists of today. This presentation will outline Dream in Green’s mission and programs while diving into its methodology on translating climate science into relatable and easy lesson plans that students even as early as kindergarten can understand. Dream in Green’s overall goal is to increase environmental literacy leading to citizens being more informed and making positive impacts.
