Title: Existence and stability of ground-state solutions of regularized nonlinear Schrodinger equations

Abstract:  Regularized nonlinear Schrodinger equations have been proposed by Colin/Lannes and Colin/Lannes/Szeftel as models for modulated carrier waves in some situations where the usual nonlinear Schrodinger equation is inaccurate.   Perhaps the first step in understanding the behavior of general solutions of the regularized equations is to consider their ground-state solutions.  We give conditions under which ground-state solutions exist and are orbitally stable.
