 ublic Humanities Lab.\n\nJoin us for a screening of the movie Mountains by
  Monica Sorelle and Robert Colom-Vargas. Filmed in Miami’s Little Haiti 
 neighborhood\, the celebration of Haitian cultural heritage and the interg
 enerational tensions of an immigrant household are set against the backdro
 p of a neighborhood being rapidly transformed by gentrification. After the
  screening\, there will be a Q & A with filmmakers Monica Sorelle and Robe
 rt Colom-Vargas (FIU Class of ‘13).\n\nAbout iWitness\n\nThe Global Bord
 erless Caribbean is at the heart of iWitness\, a dynamic community initiat
 ive developed in collaboration with FIU's Public Humanities Lab. Through v
 isual storytelling\, civic dialogue\, and public engagement\, iWitness exa
 mines issues affecting communities across Latin America\, the Caribbean\, 
 and their global diasporas.\n\nLight dinner will be served.\n\n5:30-6:00:

  SW 8th Street\, Miami\, FL 33199.\n\nMonica Sorelle is a Haitian-American
  filmmaker and artist born and based in Miami. Her work explores alienatio
 n and displacement\, and preserves cultural traditions within Miami and th
 e Caribbean with a focus on the African and Latin diasporas that reside th
 ere.\n\nRobert Colom-Vargas is a filmmaker\, film curator\, and social art
 ist from Miami. Through investigations of spatial and narrative belonging\
 , his work explores the cultural synapses between the United States\, Lati
 n America\, and the Caribbean as they materialize across the diasporic spa
 ce and inform the cultural inheritance of America's immigrant populations.
