Final Sequence exhibition celebrates the vibrant and diverse artistic expressions of FIU’S CARTA—BFA-Thesis 02—Fall 2024 cohort. Over the course of this academic semester, these talented students have explored their creative practices, expanding their research on video, animation, sculpture, painting, and multimedia. Each piece in this exhibition reflects their unique journeys and personal narratives interlaced with collective experiences.

The Pop-up exhibition, generously hosted by Laundromat Art Space in Miami on November 22-23, shows the convergence of various artistic disciplines. Final Sequence encapsulates the essence of this conclusive assembling as a testament to the interconnected narratives of our educational experiences, cultural contexts, and the ever-evolving dialogues between technology and tradition.

Visitors will discover how each young artist navigates their chosen medium to articulate themes of identity, memory, and the human experience while engaging in thoughtful discourse.

Sandra Ramos- Visiting Artist Assistant Teaching Professor at FIU, and Ronald Sanchez, director of the Laundromat Art Space, organized this exhibition and catalog. We hope they serve as documentation of the exhibition and as a bridge between our FIU artists and the Miami audience. We greatly recognize the support of Tori Arpad, Art & Art History Department Chair, and all CARTA staff and faculty, as well as the commitment of all our students, especially Kenny Diaz, who designed the poster.

Thank you for joining us on this remarkable journey. We hope that "Final Sequences" sparks inspiration, ignites conversation, and fosters a deeper understanding of the incredible power of art and education.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
