The FIU Jazz Factet is comprised of the distinguished jazz faculty of the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts. Collectively, its members have earned multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominations, Fulbright Scholar and Specialist awards, and Global Music Awards, among many other honors. Active recording artists and internationally performing musicians, the ensemble continues to elevate FIU’s jazz profile on the world stage. Their recent recording, The FIU Jazz Factet Plays the Music of Gary Campbell, won a Global Music Award and is available on all major streaming platforms. This performance features the music of composer Aldo Salvent.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
