This February 5 & 6, the FIU Opera Theater invites you to experience an evening of short American Midcentury operas, brought to life with a vibrant 1950s-inspired production. Each opera tells a unique story, full of emotion, wit, and charm:

  • Hugo Weisgall’s The Stronger
A setting of August Strindberg’s one-act play, this Expressionist monodrama depicts a sharp and compelling battle of wits between two former professional and personal rivals.

  • Douglas Moore’s Gallantry
A hilarious parody of a 1950s television soap opera, this comic opera comes complete with melodramatic characters and live commercials, delivering a delightful dose of humor and nostalgia.

Get ready to relive the 1950s with stunning performances, engaging storytelling, and a touch of nostalgia. Directed by Robert B. Dundas.
