FIU in Washington, DC.

Join the celebration of the U.S. Army Birthday on June 14 as we remember its creation in 1775. The army originally consisted of volunteer soldiers with roots to the Continental Army — and was formed to fight the Revolutionary War. Today, as the largest branch of the U.S. military, the proud men and women of the U.S. Army continue to provide peace and security for all of us.

Find many ways to celebrate while many exciting commemorations take place like balls and parties in the Washington, DC area for members of the Army – including NCOs, officers and Army civilians. There is also a wreath laid on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia.

Make sure to keep in your thoughts those who have served or are currenlty serving the United States.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
