AERC brings together U.S. research programs in universities and private, state and federal laboratories that conduct research, provide training and analyze policy at the ecosystem level of environmental science and natural resources management. These centers are located throughout the U.S. mainland, as well as Alaska and Puerto Rico. Their scientists, who number more than 500, conduct a major share of the ecosystem research in the United States.
The goal of the AERC is to promote the optimal use of limited scientific resources in the search for solutions to complex, large-scale environmental problems.
FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and
encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our
campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of
our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in
meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes
fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom,
including events hosted by the university.
