After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Florida imposed first a 15-week, then a 6-week abortion ban. Concerned about the effects of this ban on women’s reproductive health and rights, the coalition Floridians Protecting Freedom (FPF) worked around the clock to get a Constitutional amendment on the November 2024 ballot that would limit government interference in health care decisions and establish the right to choose an abortion before fetal viability. Our guests Natasha Sutherland and Anna Hochkammer will discuss insights from the Yes on Amendment 4 movement, including successes, obstacles, and what is left to do until November 5.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
