Forty-seven thousand people died from opioids in 2017, according to the National Institutes on Drug Abuse. Between 2016 and 2017, the number of drug overdoses jumped 21 percent nationwide, and the CDC estimates deaths from synthetic drugs such as fentanyl nearly doubled. Join experts from the DEA, University of Miami and Florida International University as they discuss the state of the opioid and drug crisis in America and ways to combat the epidemic, including public and professional education, student and professional training, and best practices.
