FIU Global invites faculty and administrators to an info session at FIU to learn more about the Fulbright Specialist Program, a program of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Fulbright Specialist Program provides U.S. citizens who are established professionals or academics and possess expertise in qualifying disciplines with the opportunity to engage in short-term (2-6 week) project-based exchanges at host institutions (universities, NGOs, non-profits, government offices and more) around the globe.

During this information session, you will hear from Senior Outreach Officer for the Fulbright Specialist Program, Amirah Nelson, and gain an in-depth look at the program and an overview of topics such as:

• eligibility requirements;

• grant benefits;

• application process; and

• examples of past Fulbright Specialist projects.

 In addition, time will be available for an audience Q&A. This event will be recorded, and a recording will be shared with all registrants after the event has concluded. Please register for this event at

For any questions, please contact Gitta Montoto, Fulbright Program Campus Liaison, at global@fiu.edu.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
