A delegation of senior representatives from Germany’s leading research, funding, and exchange organizations will visit the FIU campus to share their organizations' priorities, including climate and energy, artificial intelligence, student and researcher mobility, research security and public health, in an effort to promote and strengthen transatlantic cooperation in science, research and innovation. 

  • American Friends of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (American Friends of AvH) is a nonprofit organization that promotes academic exchange and collaboration between the United States and Germany by supporting alumni and programs of the renowned Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
  • The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world’s largest funding organization for international academic exchange. Founded as a transatlantic exchange organization between the US and Germany in 1925, DAAD now annually supports 140.000 students, researchers, and institutions in fostering global collaboration and higher education mobility.
  • The German Research Foundation (DFG) is Germany’s central self-governing research funding organization, supporting excellence in science and humanities through competitive grants and fostering international collaboration.
  • The German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New York is a nonprofit organization that promotes Germany as a hub for research and innovation by fostering transatlantic collaboration among scientists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers through events, networking, and strategic partnerships.
  • The Max Planck Institutes are a network of German institutes recognized for world-leading fundamental research and scientific breakthroughs. The delegation is joined by a representative of the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) conducts basic research to understand the structure and function of neural circuits underlying cognition, behavior, and neurological disease,  highlighting discipline-specific partnership pathways for faculty and student engagement with institute researchers and facilities.
  • The delegation is spearheaded by the German Embassy’s Science, Technology and Aerospace Section as well as the German Consulate in Miami.
