Join us for an engaging and insightful event hosted by the Václav Havel Program for Human Rights & Democracy. Students from the Politics of Transition and Human Rights course will present their semester-long research in a dynamic poster session, exploring the complexities of democratic transitions and human rights across a diverse range of nations. From Argentina to Venezuela, their research delves into the challenges, successes and future prospects of democratic change in countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cuba, China, Iran, Myanmar, South Africa, South Korea, Syria and more. Come meet the students, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the global landscape of democracy and human rights.

Organized by Daniel Pedreira, PhD, Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor, Department of Politics & International Relations.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
