Dr. Unwin will explore the challenges of producing adequate, nutritious food that is also ecologically sustainable.
Along with being a professor, Dr. Nigel Unwin is a public health physician and epidemiologist. He is an honorary Professor of Population Health Sciences at the University of the West Indies.
He was based for six years at the University of the West Indies (until 2016), and since then, his research interests have increasingly focused on the challenges of reducing the burdens of nutrition-related diseases through food production that is ecologically sustainable and resilient to climate change.
He is the Chief Investigator on the recently funded NIHR Global Health Research Group on Community Food for Human Nutrition and Planetary Health in Small Islands.
