The IV Global Summit on Disinformation to be held online on September 18 and 19, will bring together journalists, researchers, academics, fact-checkers, media and government representatives, civil society organizations, professors, and students.

The summit will highlight technological innovation and media literacy to protect journalistic content and strengthen democracy. The event is organized by the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) the Foundation for Journalism in Bolivia and the Distrust Project in Argentina.

The Global Disinformation Summit will once again be a major online event for those who wish to learn, develop, or contribute their actions to fight falsehoods, facilitate access to reliable information, foster digital literacy, and strengthen democracies.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
