This training will provide a detailed, hands-on introduction to identifying grant opportunities and preparing effective grant proposals. Additionally, the training provides guidance on effective grants management techniques.

Designed for those with little or no grant writing experience, the Grants 101 workshop will introduce the following topics:

Identifying your organization’s funding priorities that are most appropriate for grant funding

Assessing your organization’s grant management capacity

Researching, identifying, and communicating with prospective grant funders

Reviewing grant guidelines to understand a funder’s proposal requirements (hands-on activity)

Understanding the components and characteristics of successful grant proposals

Reviewing grant proposals to identify the do’s and don’ts of effective proposal writing (hands-on activity)

Implementing effective grants management strategies

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify appropriate grant opportunities and prospective funders

  • Effectively write a grant proposal

  • Effectively manage a grant award
