Celebrate Poetry Month with us at the Miami Beach Visual Arts Gallery for the Honest Liars Club Open Mic hosted by FIU's MFA in Creative Writing students. Join us for a unique experience starting with a writing session inspired by the ongoing exhibition, Works from the FIU Student Archive 1975 to the Present. Arrive early to engage with the artworks and create your own poetic response. Then, step up to the mic and share your work during our Open Mic reading. Whether you're a poet, essayist, or fiction writer, all are welcome to participate and enjoy an evening of creativity and community. Miami Beach Visual Arts Gallery, 1602A Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL. Free and open to the public.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
