Please join us for a special edition of the GFJC Seminar Series!

This presentation will introduce attendees to current research exploring a new tool to aid jurors' evaluations of testimony in criminal cases. Attendees will learn about jurors’ comprehension of certain types of testimony. We will then introduce a tool our research team created. We will also discuss our current research testing its utility in aiding jurors’ evaluations of testimony. Attendees will discuss the potential practical implementation of such tools in the courts. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a research study related to attorney decision-making.

Presented by Devon LaBat, PhD Candidate, and Dr. Deborah Goldfarb, Legal Psychology Professor, at Florida International University.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
