In this professional development workshop for K-12 visual and performing art teachers, participants will learn about American cultures through authentic art. Author Rebecca Hinson will explain the process of creating and publishing children’s books. Participants will make a book mock-up, create original art and text for a book, and share their work. Co-sponsored by MDCPS Arts Division. Made possible with support from LACC's US Dept. of Education Title VI Grant.

Open to MDCPS K-12 art teachers.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
