HOPE BECOMING HOME

November 19, 2025- March 31, 2026

Opening Reception: November 19, 7-9pm

Registration required.

Hope Becoming Home is a collaborative exhibition featuring Miami-based women artists whose lives and work reflect the intimate intricacies of placemaking and storytelling in the wake of trans-generational fragmentation and recollection. It invites an unobstructed interchange between competing notions of past, present and future, weaving together stories of home and transience from across the globe to here: Miami. Working across photographic media, fiber arts and other modalities, contributing artists Dahlia Dreszer, Amy Gelb, Karla Kantorovich and Patricia San Pedro draw on family histories, archives and artifacts at the threshold of collective memory and experiences of un/belonging, reminding us that hope is both a place and a practice of coming home.

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
