Killing Time: Postmortem Intervals in Medicolegal Investigations

This is a past event.

Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:30pm to 2:30pm

Virtual Event

Unlike scenes from popular television, there is no precise way to determine an exact time of death in unwitnessed situations. The postmortem interval is a balance between art and science, with many tools available to narrow the window. The presentation will include an evaluation of current time of death metrics and a review of current research to determine a more accurate time of death.

Presented by Dr. Michelle Rippy, Associate Professor, Department of Criminal Justice and Director, Forensic Science Research Center, at California State University East Bay.
