Enrolling in kindergarten is one of the most important early developmental milestones marked by the child entering a bigger world outside of the family unit. 

Contemporary kindergarten classrooms include a number of enrichment possibilities, but also increasing social, emotional, and academic demands. 

A brief overview of current kindergarten environments, potential challenges faced by new elementary school students – especially the youngest in the grade -- and possible solutions will be discussed.
