As part of the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center Teach-In Series, this one-day conference brings together scholars, writers, and journalists to examine how conflict, crisis, and resilience shape storytelling in Central America.

Through an interdisciplinary lens, Writing Amid Chaos explores the literary, political, and historical dimensions of the region—addressing urgent themes such as memory, migration, violence, and resistance. Participants will engage in conversations that reveal how art and narrative both reflect and challenge the social realities of Central America.

The program will feature a series of thematic panels, including:

• Journalism, Conflict, and Truth-Telling in Central America – examining the role of the press and investigative reporting amid political instability.
• Sociopolitical Dynamics in Central America Today – analyzing current challenges to democracy, governance, and human rights.
• Memory, Resistance, and Environmental Justice in Central American Storytelling – exploring how literature and cultural production become acts of preservation and protest.

By bringing together voices from across disciplines and borders, this event seeks to deepen understanding of how storytelling becomes both a form of survival and a catalyst for change.
