Join us for a talk on "Late-stage diversification of natural products using aromatic prenyltransferases" with Dr. Shanteri Singh, PhD, Assistant Professor, Institute for Natural Products Applications and Research Technologies, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Oklahoma.

The seminar will present the utility of prenyltransferases (PTs) in the generation of daptomycin analogues, some of which displayed potency against daptomycin resistant strains of Gram-positive bacteria. The latter portion of the seminar will address their efforts to optimize a multienzyme platform, that addresses the hurdles associated with the chemical synthesis of alkyl pyrophosphates.

The seminar will take place in-person on Friday, April 15, 11:00 AM in DM 100.  Co-sponsored with the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, and Biochemistry Ph.D. Program.

Zoom option will be available. Please email bsi@fiu.edu for information.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
